kerrie gurney : About Me

Hi everyone here is a little bit about me

I live in sunny Queensland Australia in the beautiful Redlands which is the bayside of Brisbane and have been married to my husband Wayne for 30 years, we have 3 adult children Ashleigh (26) Brayden (25) and Taylah (20).

I started my “career” in the craft industry back in 1996 (yes 24 years ago) when my sister in law and I started our own party plan business selling rubber stamps and accessories. I have worked in the papercrafting industry since then, teaching classes and demonstrating at events and stores in Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa, as well as working and teaching for Australian stores, event organisers, distributors and manufactures which means I am very capable to work to a brief and to make sure the products are the feature of my projects.

I have been so fortunate to teach classes for 7 years at the Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo for Print Blocks, Craft Giraffe and Celebr8

In 2014,2015,2016 I was so very proud to be Guest Papercraft Artist for Expertise Events at their Craft & Quilt Fair shows in Australia and New Zealand, sharing my love of papercrafting with so many was such a fabulous experience.

Another amazing experience I have had is travelling to South Africa to teach 6 times for events around South Africa for SA Scrapbook Convention, Scrapbook Studio’s Secret Event , Celebr8 Events and Scrap and Decor. I look forward to returning in July 202 for Scrap and Decor.

I have crossed the ditch to teach classes and demonstrate at SENZ in 2016 & 2017 and 2018 for Warehouse Stationery.

I have also been blessed to have taught on Royal Caribbean cruise ships in 2016 and again in Feb 2019 for Australian Scrapbook Cruises!!! I am excited to be once again teaching onboard in 2021 on the Celebr8 cruise

While attending Creativation 2017 in Phoenix I was Guest Presenter on Create &Craft TV which filmed live from the show floor out to the whole of the USA which was so much fun and such a fabulous experience.

I am so very proud to have been the Design Team Coordinator, Brand Ambassador and Social Media Coordinator for Couture Creations for 6 years and will always be so thankful for many amazing times and experiences that gave over the 6 years which include teaching all over Australia and overseas along with demonstrating at CHA/Creativiation in Anaheim and Phoenix

I am very proud to Guest Design for Celebr8 South Africa and Celebr8 Australia

I am very excited to be part of the Little Birdie Crafts 2019 and 2020 Design Teams

I love that I can make a page as simple or as embellished as I want but for me it is about the photo and reliving the memory while I am scrapping. I also love to create beautiful cards, trying new techniques and adding texture to my projects.
I don't really have a set style it is usually how I am feeling when creating for myself or what I am doing that dictates what I create. If I am contracted for an event or store my professionalism and ability allows me to work to a brief while adding my creative stamp to a project.

I really love teaching and sharing my love of papercrafting and seeing how much joy it brings to those who attend classes and events.

I have made some fabulous friends over the years. I love this papercrafting world, the friendships built and the memories saved and of course all those gorgeous products we just have to have.
