Mixed Media Brushart Canvas Tripych Inspired by Finnabair

#kerriegurney

Hi Everyone,

I created this  mixed media canvas tripych after seeing a tag Finnabair created using her gorgeous Sparks paints I loved the colour pallet so went out to purchase the paints so I too could create a Finn inspired tag. When I was ready to create my tag I went searching for all the metal charms, flowers, chipboard and all the pieces I needed to create my tag it was then that I found this set of canvases that I had purchased back in 2015 when I was in NZ I was going to create something special while I guest artist at the Craft and Quilt Fair, but I never got around to creating it at the show and so the canvases have been sitting since.
Once I decided I would instead create a canvas I found some old paintbrushes that i knew would be the perfect additions to my canvas.
I then set about laying out my canvases and creating

Double Page Layouts featuring Celebr8

#kerriegurney #celebr8

For this layout I have used Celebr8's Snap It Collection and some of their Matt Board.
Dennis and Erin the owner of Celebr8 and are the most fabulous couple who took me to the Lion Park. What an amazing day we had and I will never forget either of them or this day.
It is certainly a day I will cherish forever

Can you believe we went walking with lions!!!! amazing
This is Dennis and Erin from Celebr8, for those of you living outside of South Africa now you have a face to put with the brand

I have used Couture Creations Anna Griffin Embossing Paste mixed with Brown Pigment along with Celebr8's  Halftone Stencil to add texture to the page, but firstly I used my sponge dauber and inked through the stencil to give some layers to my page. I added a sprinkling of tiny Prima Art Stones
I inked my matt board pieces and then applied some  uncoloured embossing paste to my matt board words and paw prints and then coloured with brown die ink to give colour variation and texture to the matt board.

The bigger boy is Ben and he was just gorgeous and a little naughty, the little fella I didn't even ask his name as i was just so excited to be able to rub his belly even though he scratched and took a nibble on me how could you not love spending time with him.

The Protea Garden | Spier Wine Farm

These photos were taken back in 2012 when I visited South Africa with my Mum for the
SA Scrapbook Convention held by Glenda Viljoen
The Gardens at Spier were so beautiful especially the Protea Garden, my Mum loves Proteas so she was very excited to see some many in bloom
Celebr8's Picture Perfect Collection as you can see is perfect for these photos

I have randomly stamped the background using the script stamp, to do this i pulled the stamp off it's block and stamped using just the stamp pinched in my fingers so as to just stamp a random section of the image.
For the  matt board title I once again added some texture using Couture Creations Anna Griffin Embossing Paste this time mixing it with some spray mist.
I coloured the matt board embellishments using Gold Spray that I mixed myself using Couture Creations Anna Griffin Pigments with water in a misting bottle

Sadly at this stage Celebr8 is not available in Australia but you can purchase all Celebr8 products from Scrapbook Studio or ask your local papercraft store to get Celebr8 in I know Dennis and Erin would love to have stores outside of South Africa stocking their gorgeous collections

I have loads more Celebr8 goodies to play with so look out for more layouts from me using Celebr8 products

Altered Violin | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney

Hi Everyone

I have had this project in my mind ever since my daughter gave up playing the violin 4 years ago but other projects kept coming up and I am a bit of a procrastinator :)
After seeing an altered guitar at the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo in June I was going home to drag it out from under the bed  but again time got away from me.
Being Guest Designer at the  Craft & Quilt Fair this week and knowing I had to create something for my blog post on the Couture Creations Blog  has finally made me actually dragged it out from under the bed and create something beautiful to go on display in my daughter's room. This way even though she doesn't play anymore she will always have that reminder of her violin playing days. Now of course I just had to use some Couture Creations products no project is complete without a bit of embossing and diecutting :)

Onto my tutorial

here is the violin before I spray painted the front (I had already done the back when I remembered to take a before photo :) )

I cut 3 x 12" strips of Core'dinations cardstock the width of the sides of the violin and embossed them using my new favourite embossing folder Christmas Quilt

To emboss 12" strips just emboss one end and then feed the strip through the centre slit in the folder. Then line the edge of the start of the pattern in the folder up with the edge of your machine plates. This stops you getting a flat spot when you emboss your strips.

See perfectly embossed strips

Now lightly sand your strips to reveal core colour.

Using Quick Release Die Paper die cut 2 x Moulin Rouge Ornamental Lace Dies

look how cleanly the cardstock comes away from the die when you use the Quick Release Die Paper
Cut both die in half

adhere the strips to the sides of the violin

Adhere the die halves to the front face of the violin and embellish with flowers, muslin, bling and some ribbon.

add some sparkle to your flowers using Crystalina  Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue

I hope I have inspired you to look at some of your children's discarded items a little differently now
If you created any altered projects please share them on Couture Creations Facebook page

Celebrate 18

on the weekend we had my niece Grayson's 18th birthday. I still cannot believe she is now 18. Grayson has grown into such a lovely young woman and her Mum (my sister Megan) would be so very proud of the young lady she helped create even though Megan has been gone for almost 8 years now, Grayson has so many of her Mum's features and mannerisms.

I bought Grayson a Tiffany & Co Necklace as I wanted her to be spoilt on her birthday as I know Megan would have if she was here.

The card I made for Grayson I also wanted it to be Tiffany blue themed and here it is

and here is a photo of Grayson and I ... yes she is tall
