Together | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney

Hi everyone it's Kerrie here

It is my turn on the Couture Creations Blog again
and I am just loving the new Vintage Rose Garden Patterned Papers, they are so soft and pretty.

Seeing today is my 50th ..yes 50th Birthday
I thought I would scrapbook one of my childhood photos, this is a photo of my brother Shane and I taken in March 1968.
I love this photo of us, we were just too cute.

To start die cut from cardstock 1 x Postale Square die using Quick release Die Paper

see how the die lifts straight off when you use Quick Release Die Paper

Cut the die in half

adhere to the top and bottom of 4"x 6" photo using double sided tape
you want the top is hanging over the top of photo

Die cut 2 x Vintage Borders from cardstock

Cut a strip of gingham patterned paper 5cm wide x 20cm long and emboss

pop the strip through the slot in the top of the embossing folder and emboss the full strip.
I love that this Christmas embossing folder is so versatile and can be used for any occasion

Die Cut 2 x Vintage Branch dies from patterned paper and 1 x Daffodil Spray Die from cardstock

Ink the edges using a sponge dauber so as to not overdo the inking

Lightly sand the embossed paper strip

and then ink lightly around edges and on the embossed pattern

Distres the edges of all pieces and then start layering pieces onto the base pattern paper

add some pearls to flower centers on base patterned paper

Finish off with some Crystalina Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue to flowers on base patterned paper and premade flowers

here is a closer look at the details

Altered Violin | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney

Hi Everyone

I have had this project in my mind ever since my daughter gave up playing the violin 4 years ago but other projects kept coming up and I am a bit of a procrastinator :)
After seeing an altered guitar at the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo in June I was going home to drag it out from under the bed  but again time got away from me.
Being Guest Designer at the  Craft & Quilt Fair this week and knowing I had to create something for my blog post on the Couture Creations Blog  has finally made me actually dragged it out from under the bed and create something beautiful to go on display in my daughter's room. This way even though she doesn't play anymore she will always have that reminder of her violin playing days. Now of course I just had to use some Couture Creations products no project is complete without a bit of embossing and diecutting :)

Onto my tutorial

here is the violin before I spray painted the front (I had already done the back when I remembered to take a before photo :) )

I cut 3 x 12" strips of Core'dinations cardstock the width of the sides of the violin and embossed them using my new favourite embossing folder Christmas Quilt

To emboss 12" strips just emboss one end and then feed the strip through the centre slit in the folder. Then line the edge of the start of the pattern in the folder up with the edge of your machine plates. This stops you getting a flat spot when you emboss your strips.

See perfectly embossed strips

Now lightly sand your strips to reveal core colour.

Using Quick Release Die Paper die cut 2 x Moulin Rouge Ornamental Lace Dies

look how cleanly the cardstock comes away from the die when you use the Quick Release Die Paper
Cut both die in half

adhere the strips to the sides of the violin

Adhere the die halves to the front face of the violin and embellish with flowers, muslin, bling and some ribbon.

add some sparkle to your flowers using Crystalina  Glitzin' Glamour Glitter Glue

I hope I have inspired you to look at some of your children's discarded items a little differently now
If you created any altered projects please share them on Couture Creations Facebook page
