#secretscrapbookevent Class Layouts

#kerriegurney

Hi everyone Kerrie again
Today I'm sharing the layouts I created for my classes at the #secretscrapbookevent in South Africa
Now in South Africa they mainly do double pages, but the ladies were lovely and open to creating single page layouts with me.

For the #secretscrapbookevent they were very lucky to be the first people to create using the soon to be released Couture Creations Anna Griffin Mixed Media Collection.
Now these products are gorgeous, the stencils, the pigments, the creamy embossing paste amd the smoothlight  gesso along with the super fine glitter.

You can preorder your Couture Creations Anna Griffin Texture products from your local papercraft store.

For both my layouts I used the Stencils and Embossing Paste but on the Kraft based  layout we mixed in some of the pigment powder to colour the embossing paste. (Remembering the embossing paste will dry darker as the poster dries)
While on the white based layout I added some iridescent super fine glitter to the embossing paste while it is still wet.
My full photos are not fabulous as for some reason the day I photographed my layouts I couldn't seem to get a good photo, the close ups are more true to colour

I just love working with these Couture Creations Anna Griffin products and can't wait for them to arrive in Australia so I can get more to create with.

#secretscrapbookevent South Africa, Recap

Hi Everyone
Well I have been home from South Africa for just over a week and thought I had better share some highlights.

It was all made possible by the inspiring and amazing Cariena Basson (Cariena owns Scrapbook Studio) who had a dream to create an event and take it around South Africa, it was a case of if Cariena builds they will come and they sure did, 300 dedicated scrapbookers hungry to learn new techniques and enjoy 2 full days of creating.
I am so so lucky that she contacted Adele from The Wholesaler our distributor in South Africa and Andrew from Artdeco Creations to see if they would join with her and help make these five events something that everyone would be excited to attend without knowing anything at all what to expect. Both said YES and I was chosen to represent the Couture Creations brand in South Africa for 3 whole weeks at 5 Two Day Events roadtripping across South Africa

I would like to thank everyone who made my time in South Africa so very special but especially Cariena who I spent 3 weeks in a car road tripping with, her ears will never be the same. We had never met before and I instantly knew I would love her and that we would get along.
Cariena is a very special person and she is surrounded by a very special group of ladies in Kaylene who was came roadtripping most of the way with us,  Kim and Priscilla who joined us in Cape Town, Benoni and Desiréé who was there in Cape Town, Lizane and Valencia who joined us in Jeffreys Bay and her fabulous and most patient hubby Marius.

To Jowilna Nolte who I was so blessed to teach with at every event, Jowilna is so extremely talented, South Africa papercrafters are so very lucky to have her teaching weekly at her local stores and then at special events around the country. If you haven't yet taken a class with Jowilna you really must.

Then there is Adele and Ilza who picked me up from Cape Town airport and took me sightseeing before arriving at Drakenstein Lion Park who rescue Lions from Circus's and Zoos from around the world

for a sleepover in a tent surrounded by 32 lions!!!

It was so amazing trying to sleep while lions roared through the night. I was so touched by the lions they have rescued that I couldn't leave with adopting one

I chose Leonidas as his story touched me as did he with all he had been through he was really enjoying his new life.
The next day we went to the Cheetah Outreach where I got to pat a Cheetah and Grace the Caracal and I even nursed a Meerkat.

Next I have to give a huge Thank you to Dennis and Erin from Celebr8, they didn't know me but offered to pick me up and take me to the Lion Park in Johannesburg.

I seriously cannot stop thinking about the lions. Dennis and Erin took me not only to see Lions but we went walking with them and playing with Lion cubs, not to mention feeding Giraffes.

We taught at 5 two day events so we did work hard but  those 3 very special days will forever be remembered by me as will all the beautiful people I met at each event

You can see more photos from my trip on Facebook or Instagram

I will share my layouts I taught with you all tomorrow

I am now in Auckland New Zealand at SENZ teaching classes for Warehouse Stationery (there are still places available in my single page layout along with my 2 page travel layout, you can book online HERE or book at the show)

 Happy Creating

Hello Sunshine | Couture Creations

#kerriegurney #couturecreationsaus #ultimatecrafts

Hi Everyone Kerrie here with a layout created using the
NEW Couture Creations Sea Breeze Collection
I created this layout for a class I taught last month in Brissie and loved it so much I thought I would share it as my blog post for the Couture Creations Blog

I love this photo of Bezzie, Leith and I taken on a stop off in Vanuatu while we were cruising earlier this year

Instructions

1.       Firstly when cutting papers, Keep all barcode strips
2.       From Collecting Shells paper cut a piece 25cm x 25cm from the center, giving a 2.5cm border
3.       Distress the edges of both pieces and then ink the edges
4.       Cut from Adventurous paper the top section to create a swag
5.       Also cut from Adventurous paper 1 x 15cm x 7.5cm, 1 x 16.5cm x 11.5cm and 1 x 12.5cm x 6cm
6.       Cut from Windy Beach paper 1 x 13cm x 11.5cm and 1 x 6cm x 9cm
7.       Lightly and roughly paint the outside edge of border piece, set aside to dry
8.       Paint Embossing folder using Forest Green paint and randomly stamp onto 25cm square piece of Collecting Shells paper along the bottom 3rd section
9.       Using a finer paint brush flick some paint splatter to the top 2/3rds of piece, set aside to dry off
10.   Paint metal charms using Forest Green paint and set aside to dry
11.   Add some water to paint to create more of a wash effect and paint fence die cut, while still damp scrunch the fence to give some character, set aside to dry
12.   Grab barcode strips and tear Collecting Shells strip down to 24.5cm, Cut Windy Beach strip down to 8cm and Adventurous down to 5cm,
13.   Distress the edges of all papers and base cardstock
14.   Ink all the edges using brown ink pad
15.   Using foam mounting tape adhere the border to base cardstock
16.   Use Turbo Glue Pen or Double Sided Tape to adhere center square down inside border, do not place tape or adhesive right to the edge as you want to be able to curl the edges back, giving a more distress and shabby look
17.   Adhere paper swag
18.   Adhere Muslin across the top, then add portions of fence
19.   Layer on Collecting Shells barcode strip
20.   Layer all papers to go under photo, I stapled them together and then adhered them as one piece
21.   Add photo and adhere Wood Veneer title (you can paint it if you like)
22.   Run a line of Turbo Glue on either side of photo cluster and add broken shell pieces
23.   Embellish with netting,  glass vial and ships wheel charm
24.   Add barcode strips to top left and embellish with compass charm and twine

25.   Finish off with a sprinkling of pearls
